Zoo Music

The Zoo Music concert series showcases regional, national and international talent playing a variety of music, including country, Latin rock, Afro-Cuban, Celtic, bluegrass, Cajun and pop-rock. The 2017 dates for Zoo music are June 9-August 4.

Free Swim Days 2017

Free swim days will be from noon to 3 p.m. and 3:3 – 6:30 p.m. on Memorial Day, May 29; Father’s Day, June 18; Independence Day, July 4; and Labor Day, Sept. 4. For more information, call the Las Cruces Regional Aquatics Center at (575)541-2782.

Summer Movie Series

The Artesia Arts Council’s annual Summer Movies series is slated to begin Thursday, June 8. Movies are shown at 8 p.m. each Thursday through July 22 in Heritage Walkway, and attendees need only bring a chair and a drink. Popcorn and admission are free.

Movies in the Park

Enjoy a summer evening in the park with a fun, family oriented movie. Bring your blankets, pajamas and snacks to watch a movie under the stars. All showings are FREE and open to the public. Deming Sam Baca Aquatic Center

The center offers free days and reduced entrance fees on certain days.  Family Nights are usually Wednesdays and Thursdays, 7 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.  It also offers You CAN Do It pool free passes for 45 aluminum cans.

Friends of Rockhound

In partnership with Rockhound State Park, Friends of Rockhound offers a variety of free programs including Music in the Park, every 3rd Saturday, June through September.

In Deming take a family tour downtown, with or without available map from Deming Visitor Center, 800 E. Pine St. or download a map from the city website. Enjoy the Deming Luna County Museum, it is regarded as the “Smithsonian of the southwest,” located at 301 S. Silver Avenue .

In Columbus take a family tour downtown, no map necessary, and check out the variety of plaques mounted street side that share Columbus history.  For even more details head over to the Columbus NM Historical Society Museum corner of Hwys 9 and 11. Summer Nightly Indian Dances

Summer Nightly Indian Dances take place every day all summer long from Memorial Day through Labor Day, They take place each night from 7 – 8 pm, in the McKinley Courthouse Square Plaza – 200 West Hill Street, in downtown Gallup. These provide visitors with an opportunity to see authentic traditional dances from a variety of area tribes, with traditional drum, rattle and flute instruments, along with explanations regarding the cultural traditions that surround these dances. It is a great opportunity to directly experience Native American culture, music and dance, and visit vender booths with authentic Native arts and crafts, in beautiful, scenic, and historic down town Gallup. The event is free to the public.

Summer Terrace Concert Series

Join the Farmington Museum on the terrace by the river each Saturday evening during the summer months for some local live entertainment at the free 15th Annual Summer Terrace Music Series. Don’t forget your folding chair and dancing shoes!

Friday Night Flicks

Summer nights are meant for friends and family so why not bring everyone together for a movie at either Cabezon Park or A Park Above? A free, family-friendly, summer concert series presented by St. John’s College in Santa Fe, NM. Bring your picnic, meet up with friends and enjoy live music on the Hill. Concerts are on Wednesday evenings in June and July from 6 to 8 p.m. at the St. John’s athletic field.

Chamber music comes alive in July and August for children and their families in free, interactive, fun and educational Youth Concerts. National Radio Astronomy Observatory

Several complexes make up the National Radio Astronomy Observatory. The Very Large Array site is mostly outdoors and allow guests to walk along paths while the Green Bank Telescope is an indoor science center with exhibit halls, an auditorium, gift shop, and cafe. Hours-Mon-Sun 9:00am-4:00pm
